众所周知，洛杉矶从来都不是一个以艺博会著称的城市。事实上，洛杉矶有史以来举办过的艺博会屈指可数——洛杉矶艺术展（Los Angeles Art Show）、艺术洛杉矶当代（Art Los Angeles Contemporary）以及Photo L.A.等；不仅如此，这些艺博会几乎也没能获得许多来自美国国内和国际上的关注。而Art Platform-Los Angeles有机会改变这一局面。
于9月30日开幕的Art Platform艺博会是MMPI公司打造的一场全新的艺术盛会。MMPI是世界上最大的艺术展制作商之一，军械库艺博会（Armory Show）、艺术芝加哥（Art Chicago）、艺术多伦多（Art Toronto）、Volta Basel等都出自MMPI之手。他们在两年前就开始构思Art Platform这个概念，“对许多人来说，他们对洛杉矶属于最后一批伟大的艺术胜地之一达成了共识，只不过是还没有一场附属于它的‘终极艺博会’，”Platform的执行理事Adam Gross说。
今年，有更多的艺博会加入到了洛杉矶艺术市场中，它们都希望都够从中分得一杯羹。除了Platform以外，Pulse与Fountain艺博会也首次亮相洛杉矶；买得起艺术节也将于明年年初登陆洛杉矶。
