不一定乐队，顾名思义充满了变数。乐风飘缈不定，透着古气；成员又是来去神秘，三缄其口，叫人除了猜测也无从捉摸。不一定做音乐讲求一个玩字，即兴随意，只求自我的片刻惬意，对于自己的音乐他们从来只说三个字“不一定”。
不一定显然不是一支新乐队，虽然浮出水面就这么几年的事儿，但有当年新音乐的才子窦唯坐镇其中，加上别他几位圈中老手，故作风老辣稳健。其融合民乐的曲风在多张专辑之后越发凝练多变，恰合乐队名称“不一定”。不一定的现场向来难以界定、无规矩可循，打破条条框框，没有固定的曲目和乐手角色，一气呵成，求的是一种恬静和陶然。

The Chinese rock’ n’ roll history can be chronicled in a small number of chapters, one of which goes to a tidal wave of so-called New Music featuring a handful of western rock-inspired singer/songwriters and bands. It all started – under the umbrella of a loose term Chinese New Music – in the middle of the 1990s and enjoyed a few years’ glories until most of the forerunners of the movement took a bow before the coming of new millennium. Dou Wei is no doubt a big name among them. Unlike his peers with one-off success, Dou led a lasting and prolific career as the frontman of a rock band and a solo singer later. Several years ago he made a shift towards a freer and more fusion-based style, collaborating with some artists to form a distinctive troupe oddly named Not Sure Yet.
Not Sure Yet, a low-key band with veterans in the lineup though, freed themselves from the conventional Chinese rock practices and chose an eclectic approach blending together the post-rock, free jazz, Chinese instrumental folk and the like. Musically, NST refuse any category, and their style is changing and best described by the band’s name, full of uncertainties. They have issued up to six albums just within three years which outnumbered many bands of this kind and ranked NST among the most productive domestic bands. The repetition of studio works dies out in NTS’s live performance. And instead, their playful, unanticipated and sometimes mesmerizing improvisation knocks open another door to the inner realm.
