狮语画廊荣幸的宣布即将举办的胡任乂个展 --“制造功能”开幕酒会。

作为我们新空间的首次展览，他将从当代的角度向观者展示其最新的剪纸山水装置。

开幕时间为2013年6月15日周六下午5：30至8：00。艺术家出席现场。

In celebration of Leo Gallery's new space and Hu Renyi's Solo Exhibition-

Artificial Function, Leo Gallery warmly invites you to join us for the opening

on Saturday, June 15th 2013 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. New York based artist Hu

Renyi will be in attendance to show his contemporary interpretation of the

traditional Chinese paper cut-out in different media and forms.

艺术家自述 | Artist Statement

近代以来，去判断加以批评自己的某类过错是很普遍的，比如有一个很好的又有效的方法

叫检查书。检查书流行于共产主义时代，也随时记录了不同年代，地点与人物的政治社会

影像，最主要的是反映了人与当时自然世界的一个紧密关系，无论是真实的还是被迫的。

艺术家把这个已经被定义了的历史批判性物品破坏后运用特殊手段，把它们重新归类而制

造新一轮的人与自然的关系，或者说在不同地点，不同时间自动产生的新一轮关系，新的

一轮矛盾自然随之产生，这一定和之前的忏悔没有承接关系，但是可能是破灭了当时的一

个社会功能，从而制造了一个全新的真正与自然在一起的全新功能。

In modern times, it is easier to find a different approach to making a confession in different social

circumstances. During the epoch of Communism, a confession letter was considered to be one of the

most brilliant and most effective ways to make self redemption. Naturally, these written confession

letters came to be the record of a political society which kept all kinds of images of different time,

space and people. Regardless of the sincerity of the confession, these letters witness the connection

between man and environment at that particular time.

Here and now, these historical artifacts were destroyed, reset and re-linked, a reincarnation of the

relationship between man and environment. In other words, the artist created a new relationship in a

different time and space, as well as the conflicts. Instead of the original purpose of the confession the

artifacts were endowed with, a true sense of connection between man as its brand-new function.
