“中国四季”是新西兰戈维特布鲁斯特美术馆发起的为期一年、旨在关注中国当代艺术的系列展览。作为该展览系列的最后一个项目，宋冬和尹秀珍双个展近日在戈维特布鲁斯特美术馆开幕。此次展览包括他们的装置、雕塑和影像作品，反映了经济高速发展下中国社会的变迁，也折射出突飞猛进的城市化进程给家庭生活和社会生活带来的影响。
展览划分为两部分：第一部分展示了艺术家早前的一些作品，第二部分从8月21日起对公众开放，呈现出艺术家在新普利茅斯驻留期间完成的最新创作：其中包括宋冬与他八岁女儿宋儿睿合作的作品；尹秀珍则是打破了美术馆的界限，将创作的关注点投入到街道、交通，乃至更为广阔的城市发展和日常生活议题。

尹秀珍作品 《黑洞》



Black hole 2010 is an artwork conceived for and constructed in New Plymouth. Yin Xiuzhen, an artist who lives in the intensely urbanised city of Beijing, imagined Aotearoa New Zealand to evoke a jewel-like presence symbolising perfection and clarity.



A used shipping container is a structure symbolic of journeys taken across oceans by the products traded in today’s contemporary world of global exchange. By choosing and re-working this structure, the artist has brought attention to relationships that exist between groups of people internationally. The shipping container has been transformed into a ‘signature round cut’ diamond; a form symbolic of desire, perfection and luxury. If weighed by its scale, the diamond is 6,500,000 carats.


Reminiscent of diamond facets, the sculpture emanates light from within in a constantly changing rainbow of colour. Yin Xiuzhen is interested in scientific research surrounding the concept of ‘black holes’, a phenomena that – according to the general theory of relativity – is a region of space from which nothing, including light, can escape.



Director Rhana Devenport shares: ‘Black hole can be simultaneously seen as a symbol of the world’s all-consuming desire for resources and progress, while being a reminder of the long-term cost to the environment that accompanies the fulfilment of this desire. By placing the sculpture on the dramatic foreshore of New Plymouth, Yin Xiuzhen suggests that this perfectly-formed object has been washed to shore from another land along the oceanic corridors of trade.’
