展前提要
此次展览，郭熙将以《大航海：第七个预言》带领观众进入大航海的旅行之中，一切的开端从2015年2月刊登的广告开始：
For this exhibition, Guo Xi takes audience get into the project Grand Voyage with “the Seventh Prophecy”. It all began with an advertisement released in February of 2015:
“目光是不是光？”
“Is eyesight a kind of light?”
“目光不是光，却可以投射。”
“Eyesight isn’t light, but it can be projected.”
“我们应该把预言登在报纸的分类广告里，是预言就应该提前用一种秘密的方式传播到大众中。”
“We should release the prophecy as a classified ad in the newspaper, so it could be secretly spread to the public.”
“这么小的广告应该够隐秘，不会有人看得到。”
“The ad is small enough to be hidden. Nobody would see it.”
“喂，是东方生活报吗？我想刊登一则广告。”
“Hello, is this the Oriental Life? I want to publish an ad.”
“你好，是什么样的广告？您把稿子发给我看看，我们这里可以为你排版。”
“Hi, what kind of ad is it? Please show us your draft. We can do the lay out for you.”
第七个预言：来自远方的凝视者
为期八十六天的航海中，每一个游客将始终被一束目光打量，仿佛是幽灵灯塔扫过的强光，这个无处不在的同行者将使他们行事倍加谨慎、情貌倍加端庄、言辞中闪烁着修辞学家的智慧。经过巴拿马运河的那个夜晚，表演单口相声的人将对听众们说，午睡时他直视着一双椭圆的眼睛，他洞穿了一生的故事，却丝毫不引人发笑。
The Seventh Prophecy: Gazer From Afar
During the sea voyage of 86 days, every passenger would be surveyed with a strong gaze, like a search light sweeping ontop of a haunted lighthouse. This ever-present invisible companion makes the passengers act more cautiously, hold themselves with more elegance, and speak with the sparkling wisdom of rhetoricians. The night passes through the Panama Canal, a stand up comedian tells the crowd about how he gazed into a pair of elliptical eyes during an afternoon nap, and saw through the entire story of his life. But he induces no laughter at all.
《大航海》
《大航海》是郭熙与张健伶发起，由杭州想象力学实验室支持的长期创作计划。2014年两位艺术家发布了十二个将于海中发生的预言，并于2015年踏上为期86天的环球航海旅行，见证预言的发生。他们将沿途收集的物证和故事带回大陆，在文本－图像－物件的星团中铺展叙事的迷宫。
“The Grand Voyage” is a long term creative project founded by GUO Xi and ZHANG Jianling, and supported by Imagokinetics Lab in Hangzhou. In 2014, the artist duo released 12 prophecies from sea, and set off on their 86 days global voyage in 2015 to witness the prophecies. They brought back evidences and stories they collected from their journey, and produced anarrative maze with a star cluster of texts, images, and objects.
郭熙 Guo Xi
1988年生于江苏盐城，2010年毕业于中国美术学院新媒体系，毕业后作为驻地艺术家前往荷兰皇家艺术学院驻馆两年，2015年获得纽约大学艺术硕士学位。
郭熙关心人们认知世界时所依赖的意识形态, 他將艺术家的工作比喻成一种“穿刺”, 刺破意识形态坚固的外壳, 从留下的孔洞中窥见“真相”。对于他来说, 艺术形式只是传递观念的载体, 他广泛使用装置、绘画、表演、雕塑、文本等多种形式来寻求最准确的表达。
Guo Xi was born in YanCheng, 1988. After graduation from New Media Art Department of CAA in 2010, he joined a two-year residency program at the Rijksakademie in Netherlands. In 2015, he got from MFA degree in Studio Art from NYU.
Guo Xi likens an artist’ s work to an act of “piercing”, making little pores on the hard husk of ideologies, through which people will be given a chance to glance at the Truth hidden within. In his view, the visual form is a medium for the transmission of message, and that justifies his extensive use of a variety of artistic forms, such as installation, painting, performance, sculpture, text, et cetera, to try to convey his messages as faithfully as possible.
