BizArt Art Center is happy to present “Itchy” an exhibition by young female artists. Although they are all women in their twenties they don’t mean to emphasize their women identity, or any other issues on women rights. These preconceived ideas, unavoidabe, led to numerous questionings and reconsideration as they organized their first exhibition, “Spade”,in 2008: “in this period of identity seeking, without the ideal conditions of age, sex, and education, did we have the right to make a show together? Participating artists were incidentally all female, born in the 80s, it immediately brought up a question: were there any feminist ideas in it? Or women’s right tendencies? Were the 80s trying to claim something?”

The exhibition was a success, followed by another show, “Fractal Note” a few months later. This time, combining their past experiences and new encounters (participating artists slightly varies from an exhibition to ther other), artists will present new works, videos and installations mainly, in BizArt from April 24th to May 24th, 2009.

“It might be a very subtle sensation, or something insignificant. We are all consumers of the food chain, we can save energy, food chain’s consumers can assimilate all the energies stocked in plants, with a 10% of efficiency, therefore as consumers we can simultaneously exist in this food chain. Both existence and reason grow together into a natural freedom, photosynthesis may hide numerous unspoken rules, without leading us to a chaos of minor details, however what we do need is some free air, so we can experiment the illusion of withdrawing reality and spit out the blend of freedom factors as well as everything else. Since free air allowed us to, we freely gathered, accumulating the experiences of our two previous exhibitions “Spade” and “Fractal note”. Full of initiatives, we met different artists, combine similar thoughts, free natural factors’ incidents were enough and the most important is that in this photosynthesis repressed by unspoken rules, we can breathe free air. Hope that everyone will feel the same way when watching the exhibition, and have opportunities to participate to our activities, no matter if it is a life or an art exhibition.”

Previous exhibitions background:
Spade and Fractal note

Spade: in this period of identity seeking, without the ideal conditions of age, sex, and education, did we have the right to make a show together? At the beginning, when “Spade” was organized, it lead to some inner jealousy. Participating artists were incidentally all female, born in the 80s, it immediately brought up a question: were there any feminist ideas in it? Or women’s right tendencies? Were the 80s trying to claim something? These questions seemed very natural, but there definitely was a despising phenomena, would that explain this questioning? Why so many things have been arranged this way before our eyes even opened?

Fractal Note: ‘Fractal’ is a nonlinear number’s concept, which corresponds to a picture bigger than two dimensions and smaller than three dimensions, this kind of image has an unlimited volume, but a limited surface, where partial and main characteristics are alike but not identical. In this current art composition, some aspects resemble fractions. We expand infinitely, like this image, there is a general aspect, with details that are alike but not identical. It is possible to endlessly explore things within an area, and discover various uses. Each documentation becomes a “fractal note”.

Women exhibitions and other events organized by women artists are not always meant to brag about their identity, nor does it imply that it is the eternal matter, in Chinese art, there is a big gap between female and male artists, which is not due to capacity but there are many reasons that explain why they don’t participate to many exhibitions. If fractal events can change their role from passive to active, then I believe that these women attitude will disappear.
