'Bejing's Edgelands' depicts the artistic communities that inhabit Beijing's suburban sprawl. Artist Bella Marrin spent spring working in these edgelands and documented the life and art found in these fascinating places. On the periphery of China's rapidly growing capital city, the activity of cultural collectives hums from reclaimed structures, old factories and polytunnels. Descended from the original government designated 'cultural zone' 798 the area wrestles in the grip of gentrifying art market forces and genuinely anarchic creativity.
