艺术家自述

我作品的创作灵感通常开始于某个动态的场景，然后我使用丙烯在水彩纸上手绘出基本的构图和颜色的调配。接下来，我会在电脑上对已有的草图进行编辑和再绘制。在这个过程中，根据作品的最终需要，我会对图像进行追加或者减少。最后，我会决定作品的节奏以及时间长度。

在我作品中看待与对待社会的态度和我不愿轻易提起的，在年少时所遭遇的一场恐怖经历有着很大关系。十四岁那年，一场意外袭击几乎让我丧命。我的脖子被一个陌生男人用刀割伤，造成大静脉切断、身体大量失血。我被送到医院急救，脖子上缝了二十多针。躺在手术室的每分每秒脑子里一片空白，能想起来的唯一的感受就是我还不想死。自那以后，对于人的不信任感和自我保护意识，都在我身上变得特别强。

我倾向于在我的作品里使用幽默的美学去呈现社会中那些危险、肮脏和疯狂的禁忌。我是在攻击这个社会吗？或者是在自我治愈？又或者我是在通过作品与这个世界和解？我不确定。

每个人首先都是独立存在的，而且拥有选择的自由。但是人又是无法不和他人发生牵绊而独立生存的。所以，每个人的自由和选择就可能给他人的自由造成积极或者消极的影响。 这次展览是以手和繩子为主题的，作为牵绊的象征。

Artist statement

My initial idea for a work usually begins with an action scene. I start by painting with acrylic on watercolor paper to sketch out the basic composition and the color arrangement. Then, I edit and redraw the sketch on the computer. Sometimes, during this process, I delete or add new images based on the final needs of the work. In the last step, I decide the work’s rhythm and duration.

The ways my works perceive and interact with society have a lot to do with a near death experience in my youth that I don’t usually talk about. A stranger attacked me when I was fourteen years old. He cut my neck with a knife, severing my vena cava and causing a massive loss of blood. I had to receive twenty stitches. Every minute that I spent in the emergency room, my brain was blank. The only thing I knew was: I do not want to die. After that, my distrust towards people and the need for self-preservation swelled in me.

I tend to reveal taboos of society – dangerous, dirty, and crazy – with an aesthetic of humor in my works. Am I attacking the society? Am I trying to heal myself? Am I reconciling with the world though my works? I am not sure.

We exist on an individual basis and we have the freedom to choose. But we can’t survive without bonding with others in society. As such, our freedom – our choices – always affects another’s freedom positively or negatively. The main motifs of this exhibition are the hand and the rope – symbols of bonds and bonding.
